SecureMac to Debut “The Checklist” Podcast Series

Las Vegas, NV, September 8, 2016 – SecureMac, one of the key contributors in the Mac security world, today announced the debut episode of “The Checklist – presented by SecureMac,” a security-themed podcast series intended for a wide range of audiences from novices to like-minded experts.  Ken Ray, a popular icon in ‘all things related to Apple’ will serve as the host.

Each week, Nicholas Raba, Nicholas Ptacek and Ken will cover a wide range of security topics related to Mac and iOS devices.  From getting an old iPhone, iPad, iPod and other Apple gear ready to sell to the first steps to secure new hardware, each show contains a set of easy to follow steps intended to keep you safe from identity thieves, hackers, malware and other digital downfalls. A new episode of The Checklist will debut every Thursday.

“As experts in Apple-related security, it’s important for us to share our knowledge with consumers in various mediums,” said Nicholas Raba, President of SecureMac.  “The Checklist is an exciting new venture for Nick and I to connect with Apple users.  Our research shows that a large population of our users utilize multiple Apple devices in their household for both personal and business use, so it’s important that we keep them abreast of the latest techniques to thwart any type of malicious attacks or threats that exist,” he added.  “We’re extremely excited about The Checklist and have a great schedule for listeners to enjoy.”

Not only will listeners have an opportunity to enjoy the podcast, but each show will also have editorial to accompany it. Consumers can access the show by visiting securemac.com/checklist.

Ken Ray has been entrenched in Apple news and news related to Apple news since 2005, but he’s been devoted to tech news since 1998.  His daily show, Mac OS Ken, has been an Apple-user favorite since 2006.

“I’m very excited to partner with SecureMac for The Checklist,” said Ray. “I’ve known Nicholas and Nick for years. As Apple security experts, they’ve always been wonderful about sharing their knowledge and know-how with consumers. To bring them to even more people through the podcast is a great opportunity for the Apple community.”

Since 1999, Nicholas Raba has been at the forefront of Apple security, especially during a time when Mac security was often overlooked.  Raba started SecureMac.com, a website that grew under his guidance to offer reviews, guides and advisories to protect Mac users.  SecureMac expanded its team in 2001 to begin development of Mac-centric security software, and released a beta version of MacScan, its flagship product, the same year that Mac OS X made its debut. Raba has written extensively about computer security, with articles appearing in both national magazines and books, and often gives speeches at security conferences.

For nearly 12 years, Nicholas Ptacek has served as the Lead Product Developer of SecureMac.  He devotes much of his time analyzing malware and helping to create user friendly and accessible security solutions to keep his customers protected from today, and tomorrow’s threats.  Through his research, he has helped discover and provide removal instructions for a wide range of Mac intrusions including Boonana trojan horse, a variant of Mac Defender, OSX/CoinThief.A, a bitcoin stealing trojan horse and others.

While things may shift as Apple prepares to announce new hardware offerings in the fall, the current lineup of podcast episodes for the first month includes:

  • Five things to do before selling your old iOS device
  • Five things to do after getting a new iPhone/iPad
  • Ten things to do when setting up your new Mac (Part 1)
  • Ten things to do when setting up your new Mac (Part 2)
